Born and
raised in Bucks County, PA, Pat grew up appreciating the pastoral
environment surrounding her. Nature and things "old" are close to her
heart. Unusual lighting effects are of particular interest in her
painting.
Much of her work reflects the local genre, her many years of travel, as
well as the cultural life, rugged shapes and strong lighting of the coast
of Maine.
After graduating from college Pat moved to central Montgomery County.
Eventually she restored a farmhouse built in 1717-1718 and built a studio
where she works daily.
Pat Wilson-Schmid says of herself, "The act of painting is who I am. In
addition to painting unusual lighting effects, I enjoy showing my artist's
handwriting in my work. While the viewers experience the painting, I want
them to see me through the brushstrokes."
Pat is a signature member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, The
Philadelphia Sketch Club, Artist Equity, Wayne Art Center, the Cheltenham
Art Center, the Perkiomen Valley Art Center, the Greater Norristown Art
League, and Historic Yellow Springs.

A Painter's Journey
By Patricia Wilson-Schmid
Partake of life through all the bloom
of each and every cycle.
And in the morning of each part,
anticipate the glories.
Look back upon the evenings.
Ask what of worth to keep.
Move a level onward,
renewed and wiser still.
Grow in heart.
Prepare to leave a mark, a word, a thought.
Transcend your span to be fulfilled
in future human kind. |
